This Week's Artistic Endeavors - My Children's Book!
I wrote a book! Years ago, when Luca was a baby, a poem came to my head. Luca and I were sitting on the couch - he was a few months old - and I started sharing my heart with him and then I realized that I was in fact, sharing a poem from the heart. Cringey, I know.
I quickly wrote down in my phone notes what I had just expressed to my several week old infant, and I said THIS IS A CHILDREN'S BOOK!
Now here I am. three years later, working on the illustrations. It is a labor of love, and if nothing else comes of it, it will be something my precious boy has to cherish.
A dream would be to get it published, but I am still working out the logistics and kinks of that... Here, I will share with you, one of my book page illustrations in its first draft!
Does anyone know a publisher?! LOL... but really...

Personally Speaking... Art Source
This is my first time submitting to our Knox County Schools art teacher art show, Art Source! All KCS art teachers have the opportunity to submit work into the exhibition.
The UT Downtown Gallery in Knoxville is showcasing the exhibit now through the 16th of May!
I submitted the piece you see here from one of my favorite series of work I have created. This piece is a mixed-media piece made with watercolor and Sharpie.
We have some super talented artists in our district, so highly suggest taking a trip downtown to check out our show!
Artists Supporting Artists -
EJ Clay Co.
EJ Clay Co. is a Knoxville-based, small business that designs and creates unique clay earrings. Each pair of earrings is handmade by Emily, or someone on her amazing team.
I have known Emily since we were in collage, so watching a hometown friend, someone I know, chase their dreams and turn it into a flourishing, successful, business is so inspiring to me!
I love the wide variety of styles EJ Clay Co. makes. They have simple, dainty earrings all the way to big, bold, and trendy sets.
You can order sets directly from the website, or buy a pair in person in local shops and boutiques around Knoxville!

Needle Felting!!!!! I just discovered my love for needle felting and I am SO EXCITED to share it with you. Needle felting is so easy. It is also very methodical, so perfect to do while sitting on the couch binging your favorite show.
Needle felting is simply using a specific type of needle to jab into a ball of wool roving.
Wool Roving is wool or fibers that is ready to be spun into yarn, but has not yet been spun. It is sold in little skeins, similar to yarn, but has a much more fibrous texture and pulls apart. Think almost like thinner quilting bat.
Needle Felting is simple because it is just a few basic steps to complete the craft, however, you can grow in the skill by adding multiple colors to your piece and increasing the complexity of the subject of your project.
I have attached links for wool roving and the needles below along with a demo video to get you going!
Do not be afraid to try this! You can make anything - it does not have to be objective! I would suggest even allowing yourself to create a colorful sphere (make it into an ornament!!) This would be a super cute, eclectic, handmade gift for someone at Christmas time!
